ABOUT

Hi, I'm Liam.

High school English teacher. Five years in. Still figuring out what actually sticks.

Five years in the room.

I started teaching at twenty-one and have spent the last five years figuring out how to make literature matter to teenagers who don't always walk into the room believing that it does.

I earned my bachelor's degree in English and Master of Arts in Teaching from UNC Greensboro, and I've spent my career teaching high school ELA—building units around everything from Homer and Shakespeare to contemporary novels.

Between Classes is where I share the resources that survived the classroom: lessons I've actually taught, projects students actually completed, and materials revised after discovering what works when there are thirty teenagers staring back at you.

I love English. More importantly, I love helping developing readers and writers discover that they might love some part of it too.

The resources here aren't designed for an imaginary perfect classroom. They're built for the one I'm actually teaching in.
